Linking QR Codes Prior to Check-Out (Desktop)
Objective
This article explains how to link QR codes to individual inventory items before running a checkout. Following these steps ensures each item is properly associated with its QR code for faster, more accurate checkout processing.
Key Steps
1. Open the Inventory View and Locate the Item 0:00
- Navigate to the Inventory View.
- Find the item you want to link a QR code to.
- If needed, use filters to narrow the list to the correct gear group (for example, white helmets).
2. Select the Item’s QR Code Linking Option 0:16
- Locate the three-dot menu on the far right side of the item row.
- Click the menu for the specific item you want to update.
- Choose the Link QR Code option from the menu.
3. Scan the QR Code 0:28
- After selecting Link QR Code, the camera will open.
- On a laptop, the laptop camera will activate.
- On mobile, the mobile camera will activate.
- Hold the QR code in front of the camera until it is recognized and linked.
4. Confirm the QR Code Was Linked 0:37
- Verify that the QR code appears in the QR code column for that item.
- Confirm the correct QR code is associated with the correct inventory item before moving on.
5. Repeat for Additional Items 0:46
- Continue down the inventory list item by item.
- Use the three-dot menu next to each item to link additional QR codes.
- Repeat until all required items have been linked.
Cautionary Notes
- Make sure you are linking the QR code to the correct inventory item before scanning.
- If the camera does not open, confirm the device has camera access enabled.
- If the wrong QR code is linked, remove or correct it before continuing.
Tips for Efficiency
- Use filters in the inventory view to quickly find the items you need.
- Link QR codes in batches by product type to reduce search time.
- Work line by line through the list to avoid missing items.
- Confirm each QR code immediately after scanning to prevent rework.
