Sharing Gear to Sub-Teams
How to Share Gear Across Child Organizations
1. Open the parent organization where the gear lives 0:00
- Log in to the parent organization (for example, Football).
- Confirm that the gear you want to share is currently loaded at this parent level.
- This gear will be the inventory you make available to sub-teams like Varsity, JV, and 9th Grade.
2. Go to organization settings 0:35
- In the top-right corner, click Settings.
- Find the Gear Sharing option in the settings area.
- This is where you control which organizations can access the parent organization’s gear.
3. Share gear with child organizations 0:46
- Select Share gear with all child orgs.
- This makes the parent organization’s gear available to all sub-organizations underneath it.
- If needed, you can also share with other organizations, but the usual setup is to share only with child orgs.
4. Disable checkout at the parent level 1:08
- Turn off checkout at the parent organization level.
- This ensures gear is checked out only within the child teams, not accidentally at the parent level.
- In this example, checkouts should happen in Varsity Football, JV Football, or 9th Grade Football.
5. Save the settings 1:20
- Click Save to apply the gear-sharing configuration.
- After saving, the parent organization’s gear will be shared with the selected child organizations.
6. Verify what gear is shared vs. team-specific 1:47
- Go back to the organization view and review the inventory.
- Gear at the parent football level is shared across Varsity, JV, and 9th Grade.
- Gear loaded directly under Varsity Football is only available to varsity players.
- Shared gear can be checked out to players on any of the child rosters.
7. Use the correct organization when viewing inventory 2:06
- To see Varsity-only inventory, open Varsity Football and view inventory there.
- To see all football inventory, return to the Football parent organization and open inventory.
- Always check the organization level first so you know whether you’re viewing shared gear or team-specific gear.
8. Key takeaway 2:34
- To share gear across multiple teams, configure the parent organization to share gear with its child organizations.
- Make sure checkout is disabled at the parent level if you want all checkouts to happen within the sub-teams.
- This keeps inventory organized and prevents gear from being checked out in the wrong place.
